The Dubai Court of First Instance has officially recognized the legality of using cryptocurrency for salary payments in employment contracts. The case stems from a lawsuit filed by an employee for unpaid wages, involving 5,250 ecowatt tokens that were not paid for 6 months. The court recognized the cryptocurrency as a legal form of remuneration based on Article 912 of the UAE Civil Transactions Law and Federal Decree No. 33 of 2021.
