Bitcoin halving events are programmed into the Bitcoin protocol and occur approximately every four years, or after every 210,000 blocks are mined. When a halving occurs, the reward for mining new blocks is cut in half.


November 28, 2012 - First Halving: This was the first halving event in Bitcoin's history. Prior to the halving, Bitcoin's price was relatively low, trading at around $11. After the halving, the price gradually increased, reaching around $1,100 by the end of November 2013.


July 9, 2016 - Second Halving: Before this halving, Bitcoin's price was around $650. The most significant price surge occurred in late 2017 when Bitcoin reached its all-time high of nearly $20,000 in December 2017.


May 11, 2020 - Third Halving: Prior to the third halving, Bitcoin's price was fluctuating around $8,000 to $10,000. Following the halving, By December 2020, Bitcoin surpassed its previous all-time high, reaching over $20,000 again.
