The Cysic Token Burn is complete. Cysic confirmed in an official X post on October 28, 2026, that it burned 7,200,002 $CYS on BNB Smart Chain.

The burn offsets unauthorized $CYS token issuance from the Cysic security incident. Two burn transactions are confirmed on-chain, and Cysic says BSC supply now matches its tokenomics.
An earlier Cysic security update flagged this step. The team said it would finish a 7.2 million $CYS burn by the end of October, and the burn landed ahead of that deadline. Cysic news today is therefore about proof, not promises.

How Did the Cysic Bridge Exploit Create a 10M $CYS Supply Gap?

The trouble began on October 17, 2026. An attacker minted 10 million CYS on BNB Chain through the cross-chain system at 12:31:38 UTC.
Cysic said early findings point to unauthorized access to a database that supports bridge services. The excess tokens touched only the Cysic BNB Chain supply, not the mainnet.
The team blacklisted the receiving address at 13:47:52 UTC, about 76 minutes later. By then, roughly 7.2 million tokens had moved on, while about 2.8 million stayed frozen.
Cysic said the mainnet and existing user wallets were unaffected, and it suspended the bridge while an external security firm investigated. For scale, 10 million $CYS equals 1% of the 1 billion genesis supply.

The numbers line up closely. The 7,200,002 CYS burned matches the roughly 7.2 million tokens that left the attacker's address. Market reports describe a 1 CYS test burn followed by a main burn of 7,200,001 CYS.

On paper, the Cysic Token Burn cancels out the extra tokens that reached the market.

What Happens to the 2.8 Million Frozen $CYS?

Those tokens stay on the blacklisted address and cannot move. Cysic has not said whether they will be burned later, so that point is unconfirmed. The project had earlier said the burn would come from Foundation reserves.

Cysic Supply Update: What Changes for $CYS Holders Now?

Market data valued the burned tokens at about $860,000 at the time, or roughly $0.12 per CYS. That is a snapshot, not a loss estimate.
Cysic has not published a final loss figure, and recovery of the bridged ETH is unconfirmed. Cysic also reported the cross-chain service back online on October 28, a key step in Cysic Bridge recovery.
Transfer steps for $CYS holders are listed in the project's bridge documentation.

Expert Take: Which Signals Matter Next for Cysic?

The data suggests the BSC supply issue is largely addressed, since the burn matches the amount that left the attacker's address. The main uncertainty remains the follow-up report.
Cysic said it plans to publish verified losses and fund-tracing findings after the external review.
Key signals include the final loss figure, the handling of the frozen 2.8 million CYS, and activity on the restored bridge. Any change to CYS tokenomics documents would also matter.
The main risk is a repeat bridge flaw. A burn corrects a number, but it does not prove the bridge is secure. After the Cysic Token Burn, those open items carry more weight than the burn itself.

Conclusion

The Cysic Token Burn turns a pledge into an on-chain record and brings BSC supply back toward plan. Whether it becomes a turning point depends on the security review and the bridge's record after restart.
For now, this Cysic Update is a supply fix, not a final verdict. Bridge incidents remain a steady theme in crypto news today, and Cysic crypto news will turn on the follow-up report.
