Perpetual futures open interest has climbed 7.07% to approximately $365.8 million, with Binance accounting for nearly half.

The daily RSI remains below 50, leaving traders watching for either a channel breakout or a deeper retracement toward $6.14.

Uniswap’s UNI token is approaching a technical decision point as derivatives traders increase their exposure while price remains trapped inside a descending channel.

At the time of writing UNI trades at $7.02 on October 26. The token was testing the 50% Fibonacci retracement of its broader advance, a level that has become an important reference for the current consolidation.

Meanwhile, perpetual futures open interest increased 7.07% over 24 hours to approximately $365.8 million, according to derivatives-market data from Coinalyze.

The combination raises the significance of UNI’s next directional move. More outstanding leveraged contracts can intensify volatility when price breaks a closely watched technical boundary, although the available data does not establish where liquidation orders are concentrated.

UNI Tests Fibonacci Support Inside a Descending Channel

UNI’s daily chart shows a retreat from its September high near $10.95, followed by a sequence of lower highs and declining resistance.

The resulting descending channel has contained much of October’s price action.

Its upper boundary continues to limit recovery attempts, while the lower boundary provides a reference for the current downward structure.

The 50% Fibonacci retracement sits near $7.06, calculated from the chart’s approximately $3.16 low and $10.95 high.

UNI’s latest quoted price places it marginally below that level.

A sustained recovery above the midpoint retracement would improve the immediate technical picture, but it would not independently confirm a trend reversal. Buyers would still need to push price beyond the channel’s upper boundary.

If that occurs, the next prominent Fibonacci reference lies near $7.98, corresponding to the 38.2% retracement.

On the downside, a decisive breakdown below the channel’s lower boundary would shift attention toward the 61.8% retracement near $6.14.

These levels are potential areas of market reaction, not predetermined price destinations.

The distinction between a temporary intraday move and a confirmed daily close is particularly important because the October 26 candle was still forming when the chart was captured.

RSI Signals Stabilization, Not a Confirmed Reversal

Momentum indicators suggest UNI’s recent selling pressure has moderated, but the market has not established a sustained bullish shift.

The daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands near 42.7, with its accompanying average around 43.4.

Both readings remain below the neutral 50 threshold.

The RSI’s recovery from earlier lows indicates that downside momentum has weakened relative to the preceding decline. However, the indicator has not yet moved into territory typically associated with stronger positive momentum.

This creates two distinct technical scenarios.

A recovery above channel resistance accompanied by an RSI move through 50 would strengthen the case that buyers are regaining control.

Alternatively, a failed recovery followed by renewed RSI weakness would leave the descending structure intact.

For traders, price confirmation remains more important than the indicator alone. RSI can stabilize for extended periods while an asset continues consolidating or declining.

UNI Open Interest Climbs as Binance Dominates Exposure

UNI’s derivatives market is showing greater participation despite the absence of a confirmed technical breakout.

Aggregate perpetual futures open interest stands at approximately $365.8 million, up 7.07% over the past 24 hours.

The distribution is heavily concentrated among four trading venues:

The four largest venues account for approximately 98.5% of the reported exposure.

That concentration matters because changes in leveraged positioning on a small number of platforms can have an outsized influence on short-term derivatives activity.

However, open interest measures outstanding contracts, not net buying pressure.

An increase can reflect new long positions, additional shorts or offsetting strategies. Without funding-rate, trading-volume and liquidation data, the snapshot cannot establish which group is driving the expansion.

The more informative signal will be how open interest behaves when UNI moves beyond its current technical boundaries.

Why Rising Leverage Matters Near Technical Support

A 7.07% increase in outstanding derivatives exposure becomes more relevant when an asset trades near a widely monitored support area.

If UNI loses the descending channel’s lower boundary, traders holding leveraged long positions may face greater pressure to reduce exposure.

Conversely, a sustained breakout above resistance could force some bearish positions to close.

Neither outcome can be quantified from aggregate open interest alone.

Liquidation prices depend on individual position entry levels, leverage, margin arrangements and exchange-specific risk parameters. The available snapshot does not identify those positions or support claims about a particular liquidation cluster.

For that reason, the next directional move should be assessed alongside funding rates, spot trading volume and changes in outstanding contracts.

A breakout accompanied by stronger spot participation would provide more convincing evidence of demand than a move driven primarily by derivatives positioning.

The Next Daily Close Could Clarify UNI’s Direction

UNI’s immediate structure remains defined by the $7.06 Fibonacci midpoint and the boundaries of its descending channel.

A confirmed move above resistance would weaken the sequence of lower highs and bring the higher retracement area into focus.

A breakdown would instead suggest that the October consolidation has failed to establish a durable base.

With perpetual futures exposure expanding, traders have more reason to watch how the market reacts at those boundaries.

For now, UNI has increased derivatives participation without a confirmed reversal in price or momentum.
