Aster DEX has announced a perpetual contract listing for SDEV, setting a maximum leverage of 5× for the new market. The listing expands the platform's perpetuals offering and introduces leveraged exposure to SDEV for traders operating on the decentralized exchange.

Aster DEX Adds SDEV Perpetual Contracts

The listing was announced directly by Aster DEX via its official X account, confirming the SDEV perpetual market as a new product on the platform. No launch timestamp or settlement denomination was specified in the announcement beyond the perpetual format and the 5× leverage ceiling.
Perpetual contracts carry no expiry date, meaning positions remain open until a trader closes them or is liquidated. Traders considering the SDEV perpetual should verify funding rate intervals, margin requirements, and fee structure directly on Aster DEX before entering a position.
5× Leverage: Risk Parameters to Verify

The 5× ceiling is a maximum, not a default position size. At full leverage, a 20% adverse move against a position eliminates the entire margin. Similar leverage dynamics have driven rapid liquidation events across other perpetual markets; the XRP leverage surge following its 44% rally illustrated how quickly leveraged open interest resets under volatile conditions.
Traders should confirm Aster DEX's liquidation engine behavior, including whether partial liquidations or insurance fund mechanisms apply to the SDEV market. Funding rate direction and magnitude should be checked at open, as high funding costs erode leveraged long or short positions held over extended periods.

For context on how perpetual volume scales on decentralized venues, XRP futures recorded $32 billion in volume on Binance in September, demonstrating the liquidity disparity between centralized and decentralized perpetual markets that traders should account for in execution planning.

KEY POINTS

Contract specifications: Confirm margin currency, tick size, minimum position size, and fee tiers on Aster DEX before trading.

Funding and liquidation parameters: Check the funding rate interval and the liquidation price formula — these are not disclosed in the listing announcement.

Account eligibility and risk limits: Verify that your account tier supports up to 5× leverage and set position size relative to personal risk tolerance, not the platform maximum.

No market data for SDEV, including price, 24-hour volume, or market capitalization, was available at time of writing. Traders should treat the SDEV perpetual as a low-liquidity market until verified volume data is observable on-chain or via aggregator dashboards. New perpetual listings on decentralized exchanges often carry wider spreads and thinner order books than established pairs, increasing slippage risk at the stated leverage levels.

New token listings with leveraged perpetual products have drawn regulatory attention in several jurisdictions. Traders outside permissive regulatory environments should confirm access terms before engaging, consistent with the pattern seen in other emerging token product launches where eligibility restrictions applied at rollout.
