<a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin (BTC)</a> is back above $92,000 ahead of this week’s Fed interest rate decision.
Meanwhile, patches of green are beginning to appear in the altcoin field, but most alts are still underperforming compared to BTC.
The <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/charts/altcoin-season-index/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Altcoin Season Index</a> currently sits at 16, its lowest value in 90 days and a clear indication of Bitcoin dominance.
Nonetheless, the BNB Chain sector is now showing early signs of recovery.

The BNB Chain ecosystem continued to climb this week, with many popular <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/academy/glossary/bep-20" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">BEP-20 tokens</a> gaining since our <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/academy/article/bnb-chain-news-dollar83b-rebound-as-small-caps-and-builders-go-risk-on" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">last update</a>.
Overall, the sector grew by 0.4% and added $0.8 billion to its market capitalization (mcap).
<a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bnb/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">BNB (BNB)</a> briefly reclaimed the $900 price point, but retraced its <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/academy/glossary/gains" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">gains</a> alongside a weakening in the altcoin sector.
This week’s growth was largely driven by the outperformance of BEP-20 mid-caps, with tokens in the $100 million to $250 million mcap range posting significant gains.

Meanwhile, the majority of the top BNB ecosystem tokens are in the red this week, with <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/aster/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Aster (ASTER)</a> showing particular weakness, losing 11.4% week-over-week (WoW).

The BNB Chain sector is currently outperforming most L1 sectors, including the <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/view/solana-ecosystem/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Solana</a> and <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/view/tron-ecosystem/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">TRON</a> sectors. On-chain metrics for BNB Chain showed significant declines in DEX activity, fees paid, and transaction counts. It also saw a decline in DEX activity alongside other L1s.
Altogether, the BNB Chain sector is seeing a slowdown of on-chain activity, but price action is beginning to signal bearish exhaustion.
