<a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.undp.org/">The United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP)</a> SDG Blockchain Accelerator has launched its second cohort, co-leading seven new global initiatives with <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="http://flock.io">FLock.io</a>, its <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.flock.io/blog/flock-partners-with-united-nations-development-programme-for-sdg-blockchain-accelerator">AI Strategic Partner</a>.&nbsp;
These projects leverage blockchain, federated learning (FL) and decentralised AI (deAI) technology to drive instant financial inclusion, transparent governance, and community empowerment across developing countries.
The initiatives demonstrate practical applications of <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="http://flock.io">FLock.io</a> technology to advance the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Projects span critical sectors including climate action, finance, healthcare, cultural preservation and wildlife conservation across Liberia, Rwanda, the Latin American &amp; Caribbean region, India, Morocco, and Sierra Leone.

The seven projects focus on using the transparency of blockchain and the privacy-preserving nature of federated learning to solve persistent challenges in development.
<ul>
 <li>Climate-Vulnerable Finance (Latin American &amp; Caribbean region): A blockchain-enabled platform integrating parametric micro-insurance and gender-responsive finance for smallholder farmers. The system is engineered to deliver insurance payouts within 72 hours of climate events, targeting persistent financial exclusion in the Dominican Republic and Peru (SDGs 5, 8, 13).</li>
 <li>Decentralised Carbon Credits (India): A blockchain-based Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system for UNDP India. It automates the tracking of climate-smart agricultural practices, allowing 3,000 smallholder rice farmers to directly access global carbon credit markets, significantly reducing intermediary costs and delays (SDGs 1, 10, 13).</li>
 <li>Wildlife Conservation (Rwanda): An NFT-based conservation financing platform developed in collaboration with the University of Cambridge. It aims to replace tourism-dependent funding for gorilla conservation, ensuring ongoing revenue and equitable benefit-sharing with local communities via digital collectibles and gamification (SDGs 4, 8, 15).</li>
 <li>Instant Aid Payments (Liberia): A blockchain-based payment architecture co-designed with Korea University to instantly and transparently deliver Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) to workshop participants. The system uses smart contracts to automate USD-pegged stablecoin payments, cutting payout times from days to near-real-time and ensuring accountability with an immutable ledger (SDGs 8, 16, 17).</li>
 <li>National Carbon Ledger (Sierra Leone): A custom national carbon registry, built on Avalanche, to address data and oversight gaps in climate finance. The system implements robust MRV and ensures equitable distribution of verified project proceeds to communities, positioning the country as a regional leader in transparent climate action (SDGs 10, 13, 17).</li>
 <li>Cultural Heritage &amp; Market Access (Morocco): An AI and Web3 platform, that empowers Moroccan artisans through NFT authentication and direct digital marketplaces. It uses multi-modal AI to create marketing content, eliminating intermediaries and increasing artisan compensation (SDGs 1, 8, 9).</li>
 <li>Patient Data Governance (Mauritius &amp; Seychelles): A blockchain-enabled system that empowers patients with transparent control over their health data. Leveraging federated learning, the project enables real-time consent management, significantly enhancing patient trust and regulatory compliance in digital healthcare (SDGs 3, 10, 16).</li>
