Solana-based decentralized exchange (DEX) Raydium plans to roll out its own meme coin launchpad to compete directly with Pump.fun.&nbsp; 
The move by Raydium comes around a month after it was found that Pump.fun was <a href="https://insidebitcoins.com/news/raydium-price-prediction-ray-plunges-22-on-news-that-pump-fun-is-working-on-in-house-amm-while-this-sol-layer-2-ico-goes-parabolic">working on</a> its own automated market maker to potentially replace Raydium.

Raydium’s planned meme coin launchpad will <a href="https://blockworks.co/news/raydium-launching-pumpfun-version">reportedly</a> be called “LaunchLab” and will essentially be a fork of Pump.fun with a few differences.&nbsp; 
The new platform will feature a logarithmic bonding curve similar to Pump.fun. However, it will also allow third party user interfaces to set their own fees and have direct access to Raydium’s liquidity pools.&nbsp;

Raydium’s plans to launch its own meme coin comes amid risks that the Solana-housed DEX will lose 35% of its revenue if Pump.fun launches its own automated market maker.&nbsp; 
Following the news, Raydium’s native RAY token saw its price surge. <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/raydium/">CoinMarketCap data</a> shows that the altcoin is up more than 12% on the 24-hour time frame to trade at $1.86 as of 1:37 a.m. EST. 
The gain by RAY added to its positive weekly performance. As a result, the crypto is up more than 23% over the past 7 days. 
<h2 id="span-style-font-weight-400-number-of-tokens-created-daily-on-pump-fun-plunges-span">Number Of Tokens Created Daily On Pump.Fun Plunges</h2> 
Raydium’s move also comes amid a drop in meme coin activity on Pump.fun. Data from <a href="https://dune.com/adam_tehc/pumpfun">Dune Analytics</a> shows that the number of new tokens created in a day on the platform has <a href="https://insidebitcoins.com/press-releases/pump-fun-token-launches-plummet-80-as-soon-to-launch-meme-index-prepares-to-transform-meme-coin-investing">fallen</a> from over 59K in late January to under 30K.&nbsp; 
Along with the drop in the number of new tokens created daily, trading volumes have also dwindled on Pump.fun. After reaching a peak above $3.3 billion on Jan. 20, trading activity has fallen to below $900 million in the last few days.
