Fed Chairman Jerome Powell delivers a speech at the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) Conference.

 <li>The risks are two-way and decisions will be adjusted according to each meeting.</li> 
 <li>If the economy develops as expected, policy will gradually shift to a more neutral stance.</li> 
 <li>The U.S. economy is in good shape, and we intend to use the tools at our disposal to protect it.</li> 
 <li>Labor market conditions are strong and the labor market is roughly balanced.</li> 
 <li>We do not think we need to see further cooling in the labor market to meet our 2% inflation target.</li> 
 <li>My colleagues and I are more confident that inflation can continue to grow towards the 2% target.</li> 
 <li>The decline in inflation is broadly based, and recent data suggests further progress towards achieving the target of a sustained return to 2%.</li> 
 <li>Housing inflation will continue to fall as long as the rate of rent increases for new tenants remains low.</li> 
 <li>Good progress has been made in restoring price stability without causing a significant increase in unemployment.</li> 
 <li>Risks to achieving employment and inflation targets are “roughly balanced.”</li> 
 <li>The revision of gross domestic product (GDI) eliminates the downside risks that FEEDE considered.</li> 
 <li>The upward revision of personal income also eliminates potential downside risks.</li> 
 <li>The revision in the savings rate also shows that consumption can be maintained at a healthy level.</li> 
 <li>We are monitoring productivity closely and it is not yet possible to judge whether recent improvements will continue.</li> 
 <li>The Fed will not rush to cut interest rates quickly and will make its decisions based on data.</li> 
 <li>Two employment reports and an inflation report are due before the November meeting.</li> 
 <li>All factors will be taken into consideration in the November interest rate decision.</li> 
 <li>If the economy develops as expected, there will be two more interest rate cuts this year, totaling 50 basis points.</li> 
</ul> 
The first question on investors’ minds during these statements will be whether the next Fed rate cut will be 25 or 50 basis points. As will be recalled, Powell said in the press conference he held after the September 18 rate cut that he and his colleagues started the easing cycle with a half-point move:
