<h2 id="ton-s-block-production-disruption">TON’s Block Production Disruption</h2> 
<p>Earlier today, the TON Blockchain experienced a disruption in block production. The team behind TON shared a <a href="https://x.com/ton_blockchain/status/1828644569669607839" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">post</a> via X, explaining that the issue occurred due to an abnormal load currently on TON.</p> 
<p>According to them, several validators were unable to clean the database of old transactions, which triggered consensus loss.</p> 
<p>TON Core issued a call to validators to restart at 4 am (UTC) today. They noted that if enough validators would restart, the consensus would be reestablished.</p> 
<p>They also told users to rest assured that their transactions would be made and no crypto assets would be lost due to the issue.</p> 
<p>This morning, Tonscan <a href="https://tonscan.org/blocks?wc=-1" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">data</a> showed that the TON network had not generated any blocks for over 7 hours, and the latest block was generated at 06:11:46 (UTC+8).</p> 
<p>The main reason for the issue was reportedly the network congestion caused by the distribution of DOGS tokens.</p> 
<h2 id="network-overload-due-to-dogs-distribution">Network Overload Due to DOGS Distribution</h2> 
<p>Justin, a member of the TON foundation shared a<a href="https://x.com/maverickqe/status/1828632344497885678" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> post</a> via X earlier, saying the following:</p>

 <li>Network overload was due to DOGS transaction overload</li> 
 <li>Garbage collection overloaded many validators for enough time for them to lose consensus</li> 
 <li>To restore consensus validators would be called upon to restart around 4:00 (UTC) with specific flags</li> 
</ul> 
<p>Garbage collection is an operation that defines database cleaning of data of old transactions and blocks.</p> 
<p>DOGS started trading on August 26, on CEXs including Binance, Bybit, OKX, LBank, and Bitget.</p> 
<p>According to Telegram Wallet, the release of DOGS <a href="https://crypto.ro/en/news/dogs-trading-launch-triggered-crypto-exchanges-outages/">triggered</a> a few outages at exchanges and some wallet functions were running less smoothly than usual.</p>
