Less than a week after the arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov in France over the weekend, a report has emerged that the Indian government is investigating the messaging platform over alleged criminal activities, including extortion and gambling.&nbsp; 
The investigation into Telegram, which does not have a physical office in India, is being conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). MeitY has noted that Telegram is following IT regulations and publishing monthly compliance reports. 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-trouble-for-the-toncoin-ecosystem">Trouble for the Toncoin Ecosystem?</h2> 
The arrest of Durov in Paris and the ongoing investigation of the Telegram platform in India will have negative publicity for the Toncoin ecosystem. Already, Toncoin has been outshined by Dogecoin (DOGE) and Tron (TRX) following the ongoing investigation of Durov in Paris.&nbsp;

The possibility of Telegram being shut down in different regions has raised concerns among the Toncoin community about its long-term future. Many Toncoin-based web3 projects, such as Hamster Combat and Notcoin (NOT), depend on Telegram to attract and grow their user base.
