Dmitry Machikhin, the founder and CEO of the BitOk platform, has expressed confidence that there will be no significant exodus of miners from Russia, even amid the growing challenges facing the cryptocurrency industry in the country. In a recent interview with BeinCrypto, Machikhin argued that as long as mining remains profitable, the authorities are unlikely to take drastic measures against major players in the sector, according to <a href="https://bits.media/dmitriy-machikhin-rossiyskikh-maynerov-ne-tronut-do-pory-do-vremeni/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bits.media</a>.
Machikhin believes that the Russian government will handle mining-related issues at a local level, where the focus will be on creating favorable conditions for the industry's development rather than imposing stringent regulations. "I'm convinced that there won't be a large outflow of miners from Russia under any circumstances. As long as there is money to be made in this area, the major players will not be touched," Machikhin stated.
The entrepreneur also commented on the idea of establishing a state-run cryptocurrency exchange in Russia, describing it as fundamentally flawed. According to Machikhin, such an exchange would only attract those who have no other options, making it an unattractive proposition for most investors. He further criticized the ongoing efforts to introduce digital financial assets (DFAs) in Russia, asserting that in their current form, these assets hold little appeal to investors and are likely to fade into obscurity.
Despite these concerns, Machikhin does not foresee a complete ban on cryptocurrencies in Russia. He acknowledged that the government might attempt to restrict peer-to-peer (p2p) channels, but he does not expect these efforts to result in a total shutdown of crypto-related activities.
The interview also touched on the broader implications of Russia's evolving stance on cryptocurrency. Machikhin noted that while digital assets tied to the Russian state are likely to face international sanctions, the domestic <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/texas-residents-challenge-bitcoin-mining-industrys-impact-on-power-grid-and-communities/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">mining industry</a> will continue to operate as long as it remains a lucrative venture. This perspective aligns with recent comments from Anton Gorelkin, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma's Committee on Information Policy, who warned that all state-linked digital assets would automatically fall under the scope of international sanctions.
