<p><strong>Edward Gaming (EDG) has emerged as winners of the Valorant Champions 2024, securing a place for themselves in the annals of esports history after their astounding performance during the grand finals against Team Heretics. This victory by the Chinese team solidifies their global reputation as a dominant force in Valorant and an accomplishment for the whole Chinese esports scene.</strong></p>
<p>The best-of-five series finals began with Team Heretics winning map one Haven at 13-6. They opened up with a heavy start, leaving EDG on defense throughout the match. Nonetheless, EDG quickly got back on track on Sunset where they had been impressive throughout this competition. They came back and won comprehensively at 13-4 thereby tying up the series thus setting it up for an epic battle.</p>

<p>The third map, named Lotus, was a turning point for the series. In a close contest, both teams exchanged rounds with EDG managing to overcome Heretics by a 13-9 win. This gave them a critical lead of 2-1 in the series and put them within striking distance of the championship title. On their part, Team Heretics did not relent at all. They responded strongly on Bind by winning it narrowly 13-11 thereby leading into the fifth and final match.</p>
<p>EDG had an early start in Abyss, leading by eight at halftime with score line reading 8 – 4. Despite Heretics’ gallant effort to get back into the game, EDG kept cool and went away with a victory of 13 – 9 that led to a series victory of 3 -1 and hence became Valorant Champions for the year 2024.</p>
<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="edg-smashes-records-on-their-way-to-victory">EDG smashes records on their way to victory</h3>
<p>The victory of EDG was punctuated by Zheng “ZmjjKK” Yongkang who made a record 111 kills in a best-of-five series. The MVP for Valorant Champions 2024, he put in an extraordinary performance that showed how much he contributed to the success of EDG. Young Hsieh Meng-hsun, known as S1Mon, is among the rookies who won their first-ever championship right away. S1Mon winning worlds after being in the Challengers League only months ago speaks volumes about the talent pool within EDG.</p>
<p>Edward Gaming’s journey through this year’s tournament contained a lot of resilience and determination. In the group stage, they lost to G2 Esports but managed to win against teams like Paper Rex, Trace Esports, Sentinels and Leviatán during playoffs. It demonstrates their ability to weather storms and keep delivering at the top level.</p>
