<p>The<a href="https://cryptonewsland.com/telegram-founder-pavel-durov-arrested-in-france/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> arrest of Telegram Founder, Pavel Durov</a>, has caught the attention of the global masses. Durov was arrested in France as he exited his private jet for refusing to censor his platform and is now facing up to 20 years.</p>  
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-why-was-durov-arrested">Why Was Durov Arrested?</h2>  
<p>As for why he is under threat of a search warrant, Justice considers that the lack of moderation, cooperation with law enforcement, and the tools offered by <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.telegram.messenger&amp;hl=en&amp;pli=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Telegram</a> such as <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/toncoin/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">crypto payments</a>, disposable numbers, and encrypted messages could make him an accomplice in drug trafficking, pedo criminal offences, and fraud.</p>

<p>According to Durov, this attempt to put him down is not due to ties to criminal activity but rather due to the entities in power wanting to control Telegram. As the post above suggests, Durove shares that the FBI showed much interest in Durov and Telegram.&nbsp;</p>  
<p>Upon Durov’s visit to the USA, the US government tried to poach his engineer who works for Telegram. Having joined Durov on this trip, the engineer tried to secretly hire him without Durov’s knowledge.&nbsp;</p>  
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-a-global-threat-to-freedom-of-speech">A Global Threat to Freedom of Speech</h2>  
<p>According to Durov, the US government is curious to learn which open-source libraries are integrated into Telegram’s app and tried to persuade the engineer to use certain open-source tools that would serve as backdoors.&nbsp;</p>  
<p>Durov reveals that every time he visited the USA he would be greeted by FBI agents and questioned. Thus, he concludes that the US government is trying to establish a relationship to better control Telegram.</p>
