<p><strong>On Tuesday, OpenAI announced that it has introduced a new feature that enables its corporate customers to fine-tune GPT-4o, its most advanced AI model, with their own company data. This is the first time such customization can be done on GPT-4 or its predecessor, GPT-3, offering them a tailored AI solution for specific tasks.</strong></p> 
<p>This customization, called fine-tuning, allows companies to optimize AI for specific needs. For instance, the model could be trained by a skateboard manufacturer to respond to customer inquiries about wheel and board maintenance. The businesses can improve the performance of the model by integrating business-specific information.</p>

As stated by Olivier Godement, the head of product at OpenAI’s API, “lowering that bar, friction and amount of work required to get started.” This lets firms directly collaborate with OpenAI in adjusting GPT-4o rather than relying on external services or less potent products.</p> 
<p>During the fine-tuning process, companies upload their data to OpenAI servers where the model is trained. According to John Allard, an engineer who works at Open AI and focuses on customization, this takes between one and two hours. Initially, only text-based data will be supported during the fine-tuning stage, but there are plans to expand into other content types such as images.</p>
