The United States, alongside Asia’s superpowers, South Korea and Japan, have issued a joint statement reaffirming their commitment to combating regional security threats, according to a Reuters <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/south-korea-japan-us-leaders-renew-pledge-cooperate-regional-challenges-2024-08-18/?taid=66c141c04b96700001cc5a55&amp;utm_campaign=trueAnthem:+Trending+Content&amp;utm_medium=trueAnthem&amp;utm_source=twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">report</a>. South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol’s office confirmed this statement was released on Sunday, August 18th, during the anniversary of their summit at Camp David. 
“We stand by our commitment to consult on regional challenges, provocations, and threats affecting our collective interests and security,” the statement from South Korea’s presidential office stated.
Additionally, the statement highlighted that the principles agreed upon during last year’s summit continue to guide operations between the three countries.
