Samsung’s strategic focus on artificial intelligence (AI) in consumer electronics has resulted in remarkable success within its home market of South Korea. In the first half of 2024, the company sold more than 1.5 million smart home appliances powered by AI.
Some of the products in Samsung’s AI product range include TVs and monitors, audio devices, refrigerators, dishwashers, cooking ranges, washing and drying machines, air conditioners and purifiers, dehumidifiers, and vacuum cleaners. Although not all Samsung products are equipped with AI, the company has recently focused on AI implementation in its premium devices, making them stand out in the market.&nbsp;

The incorporation of the AI in these devices improves on the user interface through the utilization of smart features that have the ability to learn from the user. For instance, Samsung’s smart washing machines can adapt washing times and water usage depending on the type of load and the fabric. Additionally, their smart air conditioners can change their operations depending on the number of people in a room and the weather outside.

Between May and July of the same year, sales of the two categories accounted for more than 90% of the total AI-powered home appliance sales in Korea.&nbsp;
Samsung’s most recent Jet Bot AI robot vacuum demonstrates the kind of sophistication that customers want. These vacuum cleaners are able to recognize objects, identify the type of stain, and control the cleaning mode.

Additionally, they can broadcast the video to the user’s Galaxy smartphone and contain features of enhanced security and tracking. These devices are connected to Samsung’s SmartThings app to increase their effectiveness and enable the users to control and manage their appliances from a distance.&nbsp;
The use of these AI-based devices is rampant in physical retail outlets. About 65% of all home appliances sold in physical Samsung stores in the three-month period were AI home appliances. This trend demonstrates the increasing demand for products with AI integration and highlights Samsung’s ability to effectively market these products in their outlets.&nbsp;
Having successfully launched the Samsung 2024 range of AI-driven consumer electronics in South Korea, the company is ready to launch it in the international market. The company will be unveiling its new range at IFA 2024, the global consumer electronics show slated to be held in Germany from September 6 to 10.&nbsp;
Samsung Electronics is the only South Korean company to be included in the list of the top 100 organizations that have contributed to highly cited AI research. According to the Highly cited AI research papers, it stands 14th on the list of top 15 countries with 293 papers. Moreover, the number of AI-related patents assigned to Samsung is 6,032, ranking fourth among all the companies.&nbsp;
