Yuki Gambaryan has made an urgent plea to the Nigerian government. She fears the worsening of Tigran’s herniated disc could cause permanent damage, affecting his ability to walk and leading to irreversible consequences. 
The rights afforded to Gambaryan under Nigerian law, including reasonable access to legal advisors and health care, are being conspicuously ignored.&nbsp; 
Section 45 of the Nigerian Prisons Regulations guarantees detainees the right to communicate with counsel and receive visitors, a stipulation clearly breached in Gambaryan’s case. In June, Nigerian authorities dropped tax charges against Gambaryan and his colleague, yet money laundering charges remain. This ongoing legal battle keeps Tigran detained without resolution, with a verdict expected on October 11, 2024. 
U.S. Congressman Rich McCormick has responded to Gambaryan’s plight by proposing legislation to treat his detainment as a hostage situation. This international pressure highlights the perceived unlawfulness of his detention. 
The Gambaryan family, along with global supporters, continues to push for his immediate release or access to essential medical care. The situation remains a focal point of international human rights advocacy.
