Arthur Hayes is the former CEO of BitMEX and has emerged as a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency industry. He cofounded Bitmex in 2014 along with Samuel Reed and Ben Delo. They aimed to revolutionize the way cryptocurrency derivatives were traded. BitMex gained quick recognition for offering leverage trading and futures contracts for traders and investors. 
Hayes has a background in finance. He graduated with a degree in economics from Wharton. In his early years, Hayes lived in Hong Kong and worked as an equity trader. He was the market maker of the Deutsche Bank and Citibank ETF businesses.

It drew both favor and criticism at this point of time. 
Hayes and BitMEX faced many hurdles and various legal challenges. In October 2020, the CFTC filed charges against <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2022/11/12/bitmexs-founder-stated-that-the-downfall-of-ftx-will-impact-bitcoin-ethereum-and-solana/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">BitMEX </a>and its executives, which included Hayes.&nbsp; 
The charge was for allegedly operating an unregistered trading platform and violating anti-money laundering regulations. It marked a turning point for Hayes and BitMEX, which led to his eventual resignation as CEO and the restructuring of the company. Arthur Hayes was sentenced to two months of detention and two years of probation. 
After stepping down from the CEO post, he started the Maelstrom investment fund, which Arthur Hayes Family Office currently runs. He has also been an active investor in the crypto space. He began writing his views about the financial sector on&nbsp; Medium, which has a strong audience.

Arthur Hayes’s love for Ethereum is not hidden from anyone. He holds around 4.685k ETH, worth around $16 Million and is 55% of his total portfolio. Some of the other notable investments by Arthur Hayes are SUSDE, WILD, ETHFI, PENDLE, BOBA, and ENA.

He has made the majority of deposits through Kraken, OKX, and HTX. Meanwhile, the overall withdrawal made by Arthur Hayes is through the Binance. Arthur Hayes’ portfolio spiked to $85 Million in 2021 when he was one of the notable investors in Alamada and FTX. Since then, his portfolio has seen a decline to $19 Million.&nbsp; 
His portfolio saw a spike in June when the ETH gained momentum while he added some meme coins to it. He recently increased his portfolio of BOBA to 83.33k tokens.&nbsp;
