<p><a href="https://cryptonewsland.com/cardano-rolls-out-new-update-to-enhance-staking-operations/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Cardano, the </a><a href="https://cryptonewsland.com/cardano-rolls-out-new-update-to-enhance-staking-operations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">blockchain</a><a href="https://cryptonewsland.com/cardano-rolls-out-new-update-to-enhance-staking-operations/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> platform</a> popular for security and scalability, encountered a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. The incident occurred on June 25, 2024, when the Cardano network encountered a spam attack starting at block 10,487,530.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The attacker’s objective was to manipulate the blockchain into charging lower fees for high-value transactions and potentially steal staked Cardano (ADA) tokens from the network. Raul Antonio, CTO of Fluid Tokens, shed light on the attacker’s intent.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The attacker exploited the fact that the size of reference scripts did not impact transaction fees but affected the workload for validators processing the transactions. However, Cardano developers, including Philip Disarro, founder and CEO of <a href="https://anastasialabs.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Anastasia Labs</a>, outsmarted the attacker.&nbsp;</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-stolen-ada-tokens-successfully-reclaimed-nbsp">Stolen ADA Tokens Successfully Reclaimed&nbsp;</h2>
<p>The platform successfully reclaimed the stolen ADA tokens and halted the DDoS attack. Disarro emphasized the importance of thorough testing and independent audits before deploying solutions to production.&nbsp;</p>
<p>He cautioned against rushing to implement changes without proper validation, as vulnerabilities could lead to significant financial losses. Intersect, a member-based organization within the <a href="https://cardano.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Cardano </a><a href="https://cardano.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">ecosystem</a>, confirmed the attack and expressed gratitude to the developer community for swiftly resolving the issue.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Although the Cardano network remained uncompromised, some stake pool operators faced challenges due to increased block height battles. To fortify the Cardano blockchain against future attacks, developers initiated a node upgrade.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Once thoroughly tested, the new node version will be shared with stake pool operators for adoption. Meanwhile, the <a href="https://cryptonewsland.com/cardano-pulled-150x-to-surpass-3-last-cycle-can-ada-pull-a-20x-this-cycle-to-set-a-new-ath-past-5/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">ADA </a><a href="https://cryptonewsland.com/cardano-pulled-150x-to-surpass-3-last-cycle-can-ada-pull-a-20x-this-cycle-to-set-a-new-ath-past-5/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">token</a> is trading at $0.38 having declined by only 0.11% in the last 24 hours.</p>
