The 2024 election cycle is heating up and cryptocurrencies are emerging as a major focal point in the political arena. As per the analysts at Bernstein, the GOP is taking a <a href="https://news.todayq.com/donald-trump-positions-himself-as-crypto-champion/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">pro-crypto stance</a> now. It is seeing this as a strategic move to attract voters. However, It might help them secure campaign funding from super PACs supporting crypto-friendly politicians. Trump leading? 
An analyst at Bernstein in a report outlined that Republicans view a favorable stance on the crypto industry. It is like a dual opportunity for them. This includes winning over tech savvy voters and tapping into substantial financial backing.&nbsp;
The situation is just like the “Trump Trade.” It is a term coined during the surge in US stocks, Treasury yields, and the dollar following Donald Trump’s 2016 election victory.&nbsp;
If Trump wins the election, a crypto rally might be triggered driven by institutional adoption and a more accommodating regulatory environment.
“The Republican side sees crypto not just as a vote bank but also a meaningful source of funding,” the analysts wrote.&nbsp;
“If the election sentiment shifts more Republican, crypto would end up as the primary ‘Trump trade’ and hopes of a favorable regulatory regime would change the ‘use-case’ narrative around blockchains,” they added Behind the scenes 
It is important to note that Trump met with leaders of several Bitcoin mining companies at Mar-a-Lago recently. He expressed strong support for the crypto industry. He pledged to be an advocate for crypto mining if he wins the presidency again.
Despite Trump’s recent pro-crypto signals, there are still concerns that he could move back to his old stance if elected. A report from TD Cowen cautions that Trump’s statements during the first presidential debate will be critical. Any sign of ambivalence could reignite fears of a return to the anti-crypto stance of his first term.
“If [Trump] suggests anything other than total support, this could feed anxiety that he will revert to the skeptical approach from his first term if he is re-elected,” the Cowen report states. It also notes that President Joe Biden might use the upcoming debate to clarify his own position on crypto.
Meanwhile,&nbsp; the SEC has faced criticism from crypto advocates under the Biden administration. Experts had bashed the commission&nbsp; for its stringent actions against crypto trading platforms accused of dealing in unregistered securities
However, some observers believe that the SEC’s stance is softening day by day. This is evidenced by the approval of Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) earlier this year.
