ZKsync, a trustless Layer 2 protocol on the Ethereum network announced the long-awaited ZKsync airdrop. As per the blog post, the airdrop is expected next week and will be live until January 3, 2025. 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="strong-airdrop-allocation-details-strong">Airdrop Allocation Details</h2> 
On June 11, the expanding verifiable blockchain network shared the eligibility criteria and token allocation details for the upcoming airdrop event. The mission is to join the mission to govern, grow, and protect the ZKsync protocol.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; 
Mudit Gupta, a blockchain security researcher, took to X to share the exciting airdrop news.&nbsp;

The network is planning to airdrop over 3.675 Billion ZK tokens to the early birds and adopters of the Ethereum Layer 2 network ZKsync. The mentioned amount is over 17.5% of the token’s total supply.

Furthermore, 19.9% was secured for ecosystem initiatives, 17.2% for the investors, 16.1% for the development team, and 20.3% was reserved for token assembly. Also, from June 2025 to June 2028, ZK tokens will be locked for the first year and individuals can unlock them after three years. 
As per the blog post, the first wave of the airdrop is scheduled for June 17 to January 2025 and the second wave was organized for June 24 to January 3, 2025.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="strong-who-s-eligible-for-the-airdrop-strong">Who’s Eligible for the Airdrop?</h3> 
Uncovering the token allocation simply, the network planned to offer 66.6% to the community and the remaining 33.3% to teams and investors. Moreover, the 17.5% of airdrop tokens are further sub-categorized keeping in mind the different types of users. 
89% of the ZK tokens would be offered to the Zksynch users, 5.8% for the ZKsync native projects, 2.8% to the Onchain community, and the remaining 2.4% for the builders. 
Likewise, the network shortlisted over 695,232 wallets, and eligibility and allocations would be based on ZKsync Era and ZKsync Lite taken on March 24, 2024, at 0:00 UTC. The airdrop simply focuses on identifying the real users using a human-first approach and the wallet’s on-chain history helps in doing so.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
As per the plan, a maximum of 100K tokens will be distributed per address and eligible addresses will also receive additional allocation.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="strong-introduction-to-zk-nation-strong">Introduction to ZK Nation</h3> 
On June 10, 2024, ZKsync introduced its ZK Nation which was established to govern, grow and defend the <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2023/06/11/zksync-era-scaling-solution-for-blockchain-to-a-hyper-scalability/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ZKsync protocol. </a>The platform will bring individuals closure to experience the vision of ZK Credo. 
The nation would be empowered by the three-body governance system and permit token holders to introduce votes and proposals on protocol upgrades. Moreover, the governance system was made up of three on-chain bodies including Guardians, a security council, and a token assembly. 
In combination, all three bodies will connect with ZKsync’s smart contract to coordinate channels like ZKsync’s initial delegation and voting portal on Tally.
