Rosseti North Caucasus reported preventing significant <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/minnesota-man-faces-accusations-of-electricity-theft-for-bitcoin-mining/">electricity</a> theft in Dagestan in early 2024. Specialists from Dagenergo, a branch of Rosseti North Caucasus, identified 880 cases of electricity theft between January and March. This theft amounted to 35 million kWh. In monetary terms, the loss reached nearly 200 million rubles, according to <a href="https://www.interfax-russia.ru/south-and-north-caucasus/news/rosseti-severnyy-kavkaz-v-i-kvartale-presekli-v-dagestane-hishcheniya-elektroenergii-pochti-na-200-mln-rub">Interfax-russia</a>. 
Significantly, 18 cases involved cryptocurrency mining farms. These farms illegally consumed over 11 million kWh. This targeted crackdown is part of a broader initiative to address electricity theft.&nbsp; 
Dagenergo regularly collaborates with law enforcement agencies to combat this issue. From January to March 2024, they conducted 125 raids, with 103 involving police participation. This coordinated effort highlights the seriousness of electricity theft in the region. 
PJSC Russian Grids North Caucasus oversees electric power transmission in the North Caucasus Federal District. They manage grids ranging from 0.4 kV to 110 kV. Their responsibilities also include connecting consumers to the grid infrastructure. 
The discovery and prevention of these thefts are crucial for maintaining the stability of Dagestan's energy supply. It also deters future illegal activities. The company's proactive approach demonstrates its commitment to safeguarding the region's energy resources.
