The United States must not settle for anything but top place in the cryptocurrency industry, according to former U.S. President Donald Trump.
“Our country must be the leader in the field, there is no second place,” Trump declared in a May 25 <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/112503319133425856" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">post</a> on Truth Social — a social media platform owned by Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG).
“I am very positive and open minded to cryptocurrency companies, and all things related to this new and burgeoning industry,” he claimed, before taking aim at the current president, Joe Biden, whom he is up against in the 2024 presidential race, with the US election day scheduled on November 4.

His comments were made ahead of his scheduled <a href="https://www.rsbnetwork.com/video/live-president-trump-addresses-libertarian-national-convention-in-d-c-5-25-24/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">speech</a> at the Libertarian Party’s National Convention in Washington on the same day.
Trump’s recent positive attitude towards crypto has raised expectations among the crypto industry of his potential victory.
According to <a href="https://polymarket.com/event/presidential-election-winner-2024?tid=1716677875954" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">Polymarket</a>, a New York-based crypto prediction platform, Trump has a 56% chance of winning the election, while current President Joe Biden holds a 38% chance.

This comes just after Trump announced his presidential campaign would accept cryptocurrency donations. On May 21, the Trump 2024 campaign said&nbsp;it had launched a fundraising page for eligible people to <a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/donald-trump-crypto-campaign-donations">donate in crypto using the Coinbase Commerce product</a>.&nbsp;
The website featured logos for Bitcoin (<a href="https://cointelegraph.com/bitcoin-price">BTC</a>), Ether (<a href="https://cointelegraph.com/ethereum-price">ETH</a>), Dogecoin (<a href="https://cointelegraph.com/doge-price-index">DOGE</a>), Shiba (<a href="https://cointelegraph.com/shiba-inu-price-index">SHIB</a>), XRP (<a href="https://cointelegraph.com/xrp-price-index">XRP</a>), USD Coin (<a href="https://cointelegraph.com/usdc-price-index">USDC</a>), SOL (<a href="https://cointelegraph.com/solana-price-index">SOL</a>), and 0x (ZRX).

Cointelegraph recently reported that people who purchased Trump’s “Mugshot” non-fungible tokens (NFTs) <a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/donald-trump-mugshot-nft-dinner">had the opportunity to dine with the Trump</a> on May 8 at his Mar-a-Lago residence.
The dinner was part of the agreement with buying the digital trading cards, which feature his mug shot taken during his surrender at the Fulton County Jail in Georgia.
