The Twitter account of Near Protocol, previously known as Twitter, might be under hackers’ control or have been hacked. However, the security firm PeckShieldAlert also made a post on Twitter, expressing concern about a potential hack, stating, “Has NEAR Protocol’s Twitter account been hacked?” Near Protocol is a Layer 1 blockchain platform that allows developers to build decentralized applications (Dapps). One indicator suggestingNear Protocol is under hacker control is its Twitter bio, where “dark” is mentioned. Based on the posts, it appears Near Protocol has been hacked for more than 12 hours. Five posts, including one video, have been published by the hacker. The posts on X are written distorted or corrupted, possibly using a mix of different characters and symbols. In the multiple posts on Twitter, phrases like “re claim your sovereignty”, “DARKNESS”, “TAKE BACK YOUR THOUGHTS”, and “THE SUN RISES IN THE EAST” have been published by the hackers. However, analyzing these posts on Twitter suggests that the hackers might be trying to convey something to the community members of Near Protocol. As of now, there hasn’t been any statement found by the Near Protocol officials.
Furthermore, on January 11, 2024, the Near Foundation laid off 40% of its staff, focusing on core activities. They laid off 35 employees from marketing, business development, and community teams to streamline operations. The Foundation aims to support affected colleagues in finding new opportunities within the NEAR ecosystem and beyond. NEAR token price-performance analysis 
In addition to this potential hack, NEAR, the native token of Near Protocol, has experienced an impressive over 3.4% upside momentum in the last 24 hours. If we look at the performance of NEAR tokens over a longer period, in the past 7 days, the NEAR price experienced a massive over 22% upside momentum. However, in the last 30 days, the NEAR price is still negative.
Despite NEAR’s impressive performance, as of now, the top cryptocurrencies are struggling to gain momentum, including Bitcoin, <a href="https://news.todayq.com/ethereum-whales-buy-the-dip-accumulate-155-mln-eth/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Ethereum</a>, Solana, and Dogecoin.
