The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) claims that BF Borgers CPA PC and its owner, Benjamin F. Borgers, faked their way into auditing by committing big fraud in their audit reports. The firm, that previously audited Trump Media found shortcomings in its auditing practices across SEC filings involving over 1500 companies from January 2021 to June 2023.

<a href="https://www.sec.gov/news/press-release/2024-51" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According </a>to the SEC, Borgers and BF Borgers provided their clients with false information, stating that their audit was AIPCAO compliant, and they allegedly forged documents to support these false claims. The SEC found major problems, like missing audit records and poor quality checks, which made financial reporting unreliable. 
In a case, Ben Borgers and BF Borgers have pleaded guilty to the charges and are to be permanently banned from practicing accounting before the Commission. They are also to be fined a total of $14 million. The SEC emphasizes that auditing standards are designed to protect investors and ensure market integrity, benefiting both investors and market participants.
