<p>A few hours ago, the team behind the Helium project addressed the fact that the Helium community participated in a social contest, submitting photos of their sensor setups running on the Helium IoT Network.</p>
<p>In a post on X, the team shared the fact that the Foundation shortlisted the top 4 submissions based on their stories and eligibility.</p>

<p>Last week, on April 25, the Helium COO <a href="https://twitter.com/helium/status/1783575593688465875" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">Scott Sigel</a> spoke with Blockworks and addressed DePin and the ways in which the Helium community is able to solve real connectivity problems.</p>
<h2 id="what-is-helium-hnt">What is Helium (HNT)</h2>
<p>Helium (HNT) is a decentralized blockchain-powered network for the Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The Helium mainnet was launched back in July 2019, and it allows low-powered wireless devices to communicate with each other and send data across the network of nodes.</p>
<p>The network’s nodes are called Hotspots, and they are a combination of a wireless gateway and a blockchain mining device. Users who operate nodes are basically mining and earning rewards in Helium’s native token, HNT.</p>
<p>According to the team behind the project, the goal of Helium is to prepare IoT communication for the future and to identify inadequacies in the current infrastructure.</p>
<p>Helium’s three co-founders are Amir Haleem, Shawn Fanning, and Sean Carey. They started the company back in 2013.</p>
<p>The current<a href="https://www.helium.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank"> Helium</a> team now includes members who the company says have experience in radio and hardware, manufacturing, distributed systems, peer-to-peer, and blockchain technologies.</p>
