Avraham Eisenberg, who was convicted of fraud and market manipulation in the $110 million heist from decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol Mango Markets in October 2022, now faces charges related to possession of child pornography.
According to a court<a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nysd.620227/gov.uscourts.nysd.620227.1.0.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> filing</a> dated April 3, made public on April 26, Eisenberg allegedly had images of prepubescent minors under the age of 12.

These new allegations emerged after an earlier court filing in August last year revealed that child pornography images were discovered on the Mango Markets exploiter’s laptops and cell phones during an FBI investigation into the fraud and market manipulation accusations.
Following the discovery of the illegal content, the FBI requested and was granted a second warrant in February 2023 to extend the scope of their search.
<h3 id="span-style-font-weight-400-eisenberg-possessed-child-porn-for-5-years-span">Eisenberg Possessed Child Porn for 5 Years</h3>
The latest filing alleges that Eisenberg possessed and accessed child pornography images from 2017 to 2022. The court document stated:
“The defendant knowingly possessed and accessed with intent to view a book, magazine, periodical, film, videotape, computer disk, and other material that contained an image of child pornography.”
<h2 id="span-style-font-weight-400-allegations-yet-to-be-proven-span">Allegations Yet to Be Proven</h2>
These allegations are yet to be proven, but if convicted, Eisenberg could face up to 10 years in prison. Under US law, simple possession of child pornography carries a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment.
Investigative journalist Christopher Brunet claimed to have obtained screenshots of conversations Eisenberg had with underage children, describing them as too disgusting to publish on Substack.
<h3 id="span-style-font-weight-400-arrest-of-the-mango-markets-exploiter-span">Arrest of the Mango Markets Exploiter</h3>
Eisenberg was<a href="https://thecoinrise.com/mango-markets-hacker-arrested-in-puerto-rico/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> arrested in Puerto Rico in December 2022</a> and has been in US custody since January 2023.&nbsp;
He was<a href="https://thecoinrise.com/mango-markets-exploiter-found-guilty-of-fraud-and-manipulation/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> found guilty of fraud and market manipulation</a> related to the Mango Markets exploit after a two-week jury trial. Sentencing is scheduled for July 29, and Eisenberg could face up to 20 years in prison for the fraud charges.
Notably, Mango Markets sued Eisenberg in a<a href="https://thecoinrise.com/mango-markets-attacker-intends-to-keep-disputed-funds-as-bug-bounty/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> New York District Court on February 15, 2023</a>, stating that the exploiter was being greedy and pressured the DeFi platform to pay the bug bounty.
