Jebara Igbara, also known on social media as “Jay Mazini,” has been <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-edny/pr/instagram-influencer-known-jay-mazini-sentenced-84-months-prison-overlapping-fraud-0" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-wpel-link="external">sentenced </a>to seven years in prison for committing wire fraud, wire fraud conspiracy, and money laundering.&nbsp; 
In the recent Brooklyn federal court hearing, U.S. District Judge Frederic Block handed the sentence to Igbara whom she had pleaded guilty to defrauding Muslim community members from the amount of $8 million. 
Igbara deceived individuals into participating in illicit operations through his boosted Instagram account by pretending to be a profitable cryptocurrency trader.&nbsp; His business, Halal Capital LLC, was a shell company that had promised to yield an abnormal profit if an investor invested in stocks, electronics resale, and personal protective equipment. 
Igbara’s plans ultimately deceived the investors, and the account of heavy financial losses prevailed. The court later postponed the case and ordered Hein to pay $10 million in forfeiture, while the restitution would be determined later.
