The fraud conviction of SBF has now been finalized by the court, leading to a 25-year imprisonment. In November 2022, while managing the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by volume, his wrongdoings were exposed. Following the confirmation of his prison sentence, he made some statements. 
<h2 style="text-align: justify" id="sbf-and-his-final-words">SBF and His Final Words</h2> 
Former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried was sentenced to a total of 25 years in prison for various crimes. According to today’s news from ABC News, Sam made some statements after the conviction of fraud was read to him. On March 28, Judge Lewis Kaplan of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York mentioned that the sentence should be deterrent and proportional to the crime. 
SBF said the following;

 “I never thought what I did was illegal. I can’t stop thinking about what I’ve lost. I never intended to hurt anyone or take anyone’s money.”

<h2 style="text-align: justify" id="ftx-fraudster-behind-bars">FTX Fraudster Behind Bars</h2> 
In his responses to questions, SBF tried to shake off responsibility for the collapse of FTX, starting this match 3-0 down. He had no chance of winning due to the testimonies and confessions against his accomplices. Moreover, since creditors will receive reimbursements based on the values of their assets at the end of 2022, the grievances will persist even if all reimbursements are made. 
Sam admitted to making “bad decisions” but claimed he did not act selflessly or selfishly in his final statements. The statement to ABC was one of SBF’s last before entering federal prison.

Judge Kaplan recommended that the former CEO serve his time in a medium or lower-security prison in the San Francisco Bay Area. Considering the time SBF has already spent inside, he still has 24.25 years of his sentence to complete. Although the decision has not yet been appealed, SBF’s lawyers stated on March 28 that they intended to appeal the decision. 
One of the lawyers’ interesting defenses in court was that SBF should receive a much lighter sentence because “creditors will be paid,” which would alleviate the grievances. However, the Judge did not take this defense seriously and stated that the creditors have massive losses at current prices and that SBF clearly defrauded investors. Judge Kaplan, who has made many significant decisions, has now added SBF to the top of his list of the most interesting criminals to date.
