However, it falls short of identifying content generated or manipulated by AI. Consequently, universities rely on a combination of human assessment and AI tools like Turnitin to uncover instances of academic misconduct. A spokeswoman from Sydney University emphasized the importance of human scrutiny in detecting fraud, citing linguistic inconsistencies, irrelevant content, false references, and deviation from the assignment prompt as red flags warranting investigation.</p>
