Once removed from his position, Sam Altman is back in the business, but this time with three new board members.
On Friday, the law firm WilmerHale’s internal investigation and review offered a clean chit to Sam Altman. Based on the investigation, Altman was not involved in any dishonest activity and is the right leader for OpenAI. After the investigation, he was reinstated to its board of directors with three new board members.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

OpenAI, the tech giant, reappointed the chief executive, Sam Altman, to the firm’s board along with three new female board members, including Sue Desmond-Hellmann, Nicole Seligman, and Fidji Simo.&nbsp;
On November 17, 2023, Altman was removed from the list of OpenAI’s board of directors and Chief executive position as the company lost confidence in his leadership. Greg Brockman, the President of OpenAI, was also removed.&nbsp;
According to the board, he had been dishonest with the company and lacked candor in his communications with the board. However, Altman was reinstated on November 22.
Altman recently agreed to an internal investigation and review process, and the results were announced on Friday. The investigation was reviewed and conducted by law firm WilmerHale and involved interviews with dozens of individuals and analysis of around 30K documents.&nbsp;&nbsp;
“We have unanimously concluded that Sam and Greg Brockman are the right leaders for OpenAI,” said the chair of the <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2024/03/01/elon-musk-claims-openai-and-altman-broke-contractual-agreement/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">OpenAI </a>board, Bret Taylor.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Altman, in response, apologized for his unhealthy relationship with a prior board member.
“I’m pleased this whole thing is over, I could have handled the situation with more grace and care. I apologize for that”, said Altman.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Moreover, many people are connecting Altman’s comeback with Elon Musk’s recent action against OpenAI. Elon Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and its leader, Sam Altman, for breaching the contractual agreement.&nbsp;
According to Musk, OpenAI has breached the contract as the company is no longer working for the benefit of humanity. The partnership with Microsoft abandoned the mission to create artificial intelligence for humanity and became more focused on profit-making.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="strong-introduction-to-the-new-members-of-the-board-strong">Introduction to the New Members of the Board&nbsp;</h3>
OpenAI announced the comeback of Altman with three new board members.
Sue Desmond-Hellmann is the former CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Fidji Simo is the CEO and Chair of Instacart, and Nicole Seligman is the former EVP and Global General Counsel of Sony.
All three new members, including Bret Taylor, Adam D’Angelo, Larry Summers, and Altman, joined the current board members. OpenAI has also made some changes to the current governance structure.&nbsp;
New corporate governance guidelines, a whistleblower hotline for workers and contractors, an empowered conflict of interest policy, and additional board committees focused on OpenAI’s mission and strategies were introduced.&nbsp;
“We recognize the importance of our role in stewarding transformative technologies for the global good,” Taylor said.
All the changes in the governance structure were made keeping in mind the magnitude of OpenAI in the continuously evolving world.&nbsp;&nbsp;
