<p>Crypto expert Altcoin Sherpa shared his insights on holding meme coins like Dogecoin and Shiba Inu for the long term. According to Sherpa, most meme tokens are unlikely to return to their previous all-time highs due to the volatility of the crypto market and the tendency for attention to shift rapidly to new projects.</p>
<p>In a <a href="https://x.com/AltcoinSherpa/status/1762486419388264506?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">tweet post</a>, Sherpa cautioned investors that there may be more efficient uses of capital than holding meme coins long-term. “There’s usually an opportunity cost with them,” he stated. As with all cryptocurrencies, <a class="wpil_keyword_link" href="https://captainaltcoin.com/meme-coins/" title="meme" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">meme</a> tokens experience both bull and bear trends and periods of consolidation. However, Sherpa noted that memes accelerate gains and decline faster than standard cryptocurrencies.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="strong-strategic-investment-approaches-strong"><strong>Strategic Investment Approaches</strong></h2>
<p>Consequently, Sherpa recommends waiting until an individual meme coin starts trending upwards before buying in rather than holding positions indefinitely. “It’s better to miss the first 50% move up and then hop on the train later,” he elaborated. Predicting which meme will experience massive growth is challenging, given how swiftly market attention shifts. According to Sherpa, it is rare for one project to maintain momentum for an extended period.</p>
<p>Hence, Sherpa believes new meme tokens frequently replace older projects in popularity. While some more senior projects like Dogecoin and Shiba Inu have proven resilient due to their large market caps, Sherpa forecasts that most legacy meme coins will find it challenging to reach their previous all-time highs against Bitcoin or Ethereum. However, he acknowledged that all meme coins, including Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, will likely increase the value of USD over the long run.</p>
