Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture has launched the world’s first government-operated national <a href="https://www.nftgators.com/what-is-the-metaverse/">Metaverse</a> platform to celebrate National Founding Day. Dubbed “Cultural Universe” the platform is powered by droppGroup’s Generative Media Intelligence (GMI) AI system droppPhygital and Oracle’s Hyperledger Fabric 2.5 blockchain technology. 
The microverse platform went live on February 22, 2024, allowing users to immersively experience multiple events in dynamic digital environments during the founding day. 
Some of the “in real life” Founding Day 2024 celebrations featured in the platform include engaging with cultural attractions such as a History Walk, sectors dedicated to Saudi music, art, history, food and crafts as well as mini video games. 
The fully immersive, web-based experience allows users to access it using a variety of devices including extended reality (XR) glasses, mobile phones, VR headsets, and desktop PCs, among others. 
Several people were able to sample the platform’s experiences during the founding day, something the Saidi Arabia Ministry of Culture described as “a significant leap into the future of cultural expression and participation.” 
According to the platform’s description, the Cultural Universe serves as a digital twin to Saudi Arabia’s rich heritage and contemporary cultural events, representing a manifestation of the Ministry’s Vision 2030’s drive towards technological advancement and cultural preservation. 
DroppGroup has been one of the leading players in phygital technology, which seeks to unite both the physical and digital worlds, allowing people to extend their real-life experiences into the digital realm. 
“This initiative is more than a technological breakthrough; it’s a cultural revolution, with an aim to create a global community where tradition and innovation coexist,” DroppGroup wrote in a press material shared with NFTgators.
