<p>USIU Africa (United States International University Africa), in collaboration with Applied Machine Learning Days (AMLD) Africa, is gearing up to host the third edition of the regional <a href="https://www.cryptopolitan.com/ai-conference-in-nairobi/">AI </a>and Machine Learning (ML) conference in Nairobi. The conference, scheduled from February 27 to March 1, aims to highlight Africa’s commitment to spearheading AI initiatives in key sectors such as economic empowerment, cultural preservation, and healthcare sustainability.</p> 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="empowering-africa-through-ai">Empowering Africa through AI</h2> 
<p>The event, organized by AMLD Africa, seeks to empower Africa to tackle existing challenges and position itself as a frontrunner in sustainable development and technological innovation. With a focus on diverse audiences, including students and professionals from various fields, the conference aims to demonstrate the broad applicability of AI in addressing societal needs.</p> 
<p>Participating universities include Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), KCA University, Mount Kenya University (MKU), the University of Nairobi (UON), and Zetech University. Students can engage in specialized tracks such as AI and healthcare, AI for cultural preservation, and AI for sustainability and economic empowerment.</p> 
<p>In addition to academic sessions, a community day is planned to facilitate interaction with diverse African communities, offering insights into AI implementations tailored to local contexts.</p> 
<p>Professionals from various sectors, including climate change, agriculture, healthcare, and policymaking, will benefit from networking sessions, workshops, and discussions tailored to their interests and expertise.</p> 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="fostering-innovation-with-industry-support">Fostering innovation with industry support</h2> 
<p>Supported by Google and Novartis, AMLD Africa aims to showcase Africa’s innovation potential and foster community building across the continent. The conference represents a milestone in positioning Africa as a key player in the global AI landscape, leveraging its abundant human resources and talent pool.</p> 
<p>Workshops and discussions will explore the disruptive potential of AI in areas such as drug discovery, medical access, maternal health, and malaria prevention. Participants will also delve into AI’s role in preserving Africa’s rich cultural heritage and leveraging geospatial data to address critical issues like water scarcity and agricultural sustainability.</p> 
<p>The upcoming AI and Machine Learning conference organized by USIU Africa and AMLD Africa underscores Africa’s commitment to harnessing AI for sustainable development. The event aims to foster collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange by bringing together academia, industry, and communities. With support from industry leaders like Google and Novartis, Africa is poised to leverage AI for positive societal impact.</p>
