Africa’s largest creator platform,<a href="https://selar.co/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Selar</a> has announced the launch of its school tuition support project tagged ‘Selar Tuition Fund’. The N5m (five million Naira) fund is dedicated to supporting students in Nigerian tertiary institutions with a sum of N100,000 (one hundred thousand Naira each). 
According to a statement shared with Technext, the primary objective of the “Selar Tuition Fund” is to alleviate the financial burden on Nigerian students and enable them to concentrate on their academic excellence and career development. The initiative will also demonstrate Selar’s commitment to contributing to the achievement of Nigeria’s Sustainable Development Goal for education to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. 
Selar is a Lagos-based online store builder that is empowering creators and entrepreneurs in Africa and beyond to monetize their skills and knowledge as digital products. The platform has a robust community of over 150,000 creators and a user base exceeding 800,000. 
Nigeria is currently facing one of its most challenging economic periods in recent history, resulting in a significant increase in the cost of living. This has raised concerns about the potential consequences for the socioeconomic development of the country’s youth.

The cost of education has been particularly affected, with a significant rise in tuition fees at tertiary institutions across the nation, especially within public universities. Several federal universities have recently announced over 200% hikes in student registration and tuition fees.

The project will be an annual initiative, and this long-term commitment demonstrates Selar’s dedication to promoting access to education in Nigeria.&nbsp; 
In its inaugural year, the “Selar Tuition Fund” aims to provide financial aid to final-year students, helping them overcome the escalating cost of education and complete their studies. The project is committed to supporting 50 final-year students by granting each of them N100,000.

To be eligible for this grant, interested participants must meet the following criteria: 
<ul> 
 <li>Must be a student of a Nigerian university.</li> 
 <li>Must be in their final year of study.</li> 
 <li>CGPA of 3.0/Cumulative grade of 65% or higher with academic records as an attestation</li> 
 <li>A clear statement of purpose.</li> 
 <li>Must have a financial or economic need.</li> 
</ul> 
The application period for Selar’s Tuition Support Project will be open from February 14th to February 21st, 2024. 
Applicants are required to fill out a form using this <a href="https://events.selar.co/page/schoolfund" target="_blank" rel="noopener">link</a> and provide the necessary evidence to support their claim. An external committee will review and carefully screen the applications based on the evidence provided. Successful applicants will be notified after the review process.
