Recently, we have noticed that more and more scammers are trying to attack our Solar community. Fake websites are “selling” SXP below market prices and offering to swap Swipe (SXP) tokens for Solar (SXP) coins.Why is Solar being targeted? Larger and more active crypto communities tend to attract more scammers. Communities with a lot of enthusiasm and engagement are a prime target. So, whilst being targeted by scammers is not ideal, it is a sign we are being noticed. Maybe the scammers have realised that Solar is a project destined for greatness!Unfortunately, it is relatively easy for scammers to create professional-looking websites quickly and cheaply. Some scammers create fake websites resembling legitimate cryptocurrency exchanges or wallet providers. Users may be tricked into thinking they are using a trusted platform, only to find out later that it was a scam.Never fear: Solar is committed to finding and taking these fake sites down.We are proud to share that we have successfully shut down three fake Solar SXP websites and a counterfeit Solar Medium blog in the past week.However, this victory should not lull us into complacency but rather serve as a stark reminder of the need for continued awareness.Keeping our community safe takes everyone’s vigilance and participation. Here are a few ways you can protect yourself and our community.Trust Only Official Channels:Our coin, SXP, can only be purchased on the official exchanges where we are listed. You can find a list here: <a href="https://solar.org/exchanges" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">https://solar.org/exchanges</a>Be wary of other platforms claiming to offer SXP, especially those outside our official exchange partnerships. If you find a site claiming to sell SXP at a vastly discounted rate, it is probably fake. We would appreciate it if you reported these scam sites to us.A list of all our official social channels is at the bottom of this article.Together, we can crush these scammers and keep our community safe.Closure of the Swap Portal:Our SXP Swap Portal officially closed in June 2023. Any claims or offers related to the swap portal outside our official communications are fraudulent. Please do not engage with them and report them immediately to our mod team. Solar does not support any swap sites or swap processes. If you hold old SXP tokens, you must decide what you want to do with them. Research and find a solution that suits your situation.Beware of Fake Social Media Channels and BlogsThe recent incident involving a fake Medium blog supporting scam sites underscores the importance of scrutinizing even seemingly trustworthy sources. Always verify the authenticity of blog posts, announcements, and updates by cross-referencing with our official channels. Follow our official Solar channels to keep updated. The links are below this articleCommunity SupportEngage with our community through official channels to share information and stay updated. Verify any doubts or concerns with fellow community members who are well-versed in the current state of SXP. Check our official announcement channels and ask our team of fantastic mods if you have any doubts or concerns.<h2 id="header-0">What We Can Do</h2>We urge each member of our community to remain vigilant. We can protect ourselves and each other by staying informed, conducting thorough research, and relying on official Solar sources. If you encounter a fake site or scam, please report it to our mod team on Telegram or Discord.If someone DMs you with an offer that sounds too good to be true, chances are it will be a fake. Scammers will ask to buy SXP from you at a better rate than an exchange; they might ask that you “lend” them crypto. Please do not respond to these messages. Block and report these individuals. Remember, our mods never DM first and never ask for personal details; if in doubt, ask!Together we can protect ourselves against these scammers and maintain a safe and enjoyable Solar community.
