Former British finance minister George Osborne has joined cryptocurrency exchange <a href="https://www.coinbase.com" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Coinbase</a> as a global advisor.&nbsp;
Osborne, who served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2010 to 2016, will join Coinbase’s global advisory council, which provides strategic guidance as the company expands its global reach.&nbsp;
He will collaborate with other council members, including Mark Esper, former U.S. Secretary of Defense, and Patrick Toomey (R-PA).

Osborne’s role at Coinbase will involve connecting the company with politicians and regulators to advocate for crypto-friendly regulations.
During his tenure as Chancellor of the Exchequer, Osborne implemented various austerity policies to reduce the budget deficit.&nbsp;
After completing his term, Osborne briefly served as editor-in-chief of London’s Evening Standard newspaper and is currently a partner at Robey Warshaw LLP, a boutique investment bank.
Osborne’s appointment comes amid Coinbase’s aggressive expansion in Europe, obtaining licenses in multiple countries, including France, Spain, Singapore, and Bermuda.&nbsp;
