A subreddit for Mt. Gox creditors has been flooded with reports of numerous login attempts on their accounts, raising fears of a cyberattack. Donald Trump is reportedly considering Bitcoin critic Jamie Dimon for the role of Treasury Secretary if he wins the presidential election this fall. The Enterprise Ethereum Alliance has issued a document that aims to mitigate risks associated with DeFi protocols.&nbsp;

A Mt. Gox creditor subreddit has been awash with reports over the last 24 hours from users seeing multiple login attempts on their accounts — sparking fears of a potential cyberattack.&nbsp;
In a subreddit for Mt. Gox creditors known as ‘r/mtgoxinsolvency,’ several users reported issues logging into their accounts on the Mt. Gox website, while others shared screenshots showing a large number of unauthorized log-in attempts on their accounts.

Some have expressed concern that this could be part of a “brute-force” attack on Mt. Gox creditors, though some suggest it could simply be a website glitch.
“Just received 15 notifications for account log in. Now can’t get into my account,” one Redditor <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/mtgoxinsolvency/comments/1e596qt/just_received_15_notifications_for_account_log_in/?share_id=kLk_6HREdoPohvY4OzVoY&amp;utm_content=1&amp;utm_medium=ios_app&amp;utm_name=ioscss&amp;utm_source=share&amp;utm_term=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">captioned</a> their r/mtgoxinsolvency subreddit post. “Is mtgox under attack???”
Dozens of other Redditors shared similar stories, while those who managed to login after several attempts weren’t sure whether to reset their passwords or not.
“It seems we are re-goxxed,” suggested another Redditor.
Others questioned why the hackers would attempt to compromise Mt. Gox's systems now: “Any ideas why they would raid the system now? The coins are already at Kraken."
<h2 id="trump-could-tap-dimon-for-treasury-role-report">Trump could tap Dimon for Treasury role: Report</h2>
Former United States President and current GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump may have a place for <a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/trump-weighing-bitcoin-hater-jamie-dimon-treasury">Jamie Dimon in his next cabinet</a>.&nbsp;
In an interview with Bloomberg that was conducted in late June, Trump reportedly said that the current JPMorgan CEO could be considered for the role of US Treasury Secretary. It’s unclear if Dimon remains a frontrunner in the wake of the July 13 assassination attempt against the former president.&nbsp;
The crypto community knows Dimon for his staunchly anti-Bitcoin bias. In a Dec. 6 hearing before Congress, Dimon said the only known use case for crypto is “criminals, drug traffickers, money laundering, tax avoidance.” He said that if <a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/jp-morgan-ceo-jamie-dimon-hypocrite-crypto-criminals-shut-down">he were the government</a>, he’d shut down the crypto industry. The irony is that Dimon’s company, JPMorgan, has its own <a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/jp-morgan-launches-programmable-payments-for-jpmcoin">blockchain token called JPM Coin</a>.

Trump used to be a vocal crypto critic. In June 2020, <a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/donald-trump-told-treasury-secretary-to-go-after-bitcoin">he told his then-Treasury Secretary</a> Steven Mnuchin to “go after Bitcoin.” Back in 2019, Trump said he’s "not a fan of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is highly volatile and based on thin air."
<h2 id="new-risk-assessment-guidelines-for-defi-protocols-unveiled">New risk assessment guidelines for DeFi protocols unveiled</h2>
The Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA) has launched Version 1 of its <a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/defi-risk-assessment-guidelines">decentralized finance (DeFi) Risk Assessment Guidelines</a>, a document to identify and mitigate DeFi protocol risks.
The EEA’s DRAMA Working Group developed the guidelines, collaborating with organizations such as Consensys, Hacken, CertiK, Quantstamp, OpenZeppelin, Banco Santander, Bitwave, and others.
The <a href="https://entethalliance.org/specs/defi-risks/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">document</a> serves as a resource for DeFi protocol regulators, developers, investors and users for risk identification and the provision of strategies to manage them.
Dyma Budorin, co-chair of EEA DRAMA and CEO of Hacken, explained that the guidelines offer a comprehensive standard that “resource founders and dev teams can rely on while working on their products.”
The DeFi Risk Assessment Guidelines cover a range of risks relating to governance, tokenomics, software, liquidity, regulatory compliance, and external market factors.
Speaking with Cointelegraph, Chaals Nevile, Director of technical programs at EEA, explained that “the Working Group proposes to maintain the Guidelines, publishing periodic updates as necessary.”

The<a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/lifi-protocol-attack-8m-drained"> attack on the Li.Fi protocol</a> on July 16 is an example of the necessity of DeFi risk assessment and preventative measures that can be taken in the space.
