Hardware wallet provider Trezor fell victim to security issues at midnight on January 24, 2024. Following this security concern, Trezor made a post on X (previously Twitter), where they cited and confirmed that the malicious emails Trezor users received resulted from the unauthorized use of its third-party email provider.&nbsp; Trezor’s recent security issue 
However, the Trezor post on X also highlights that users should avoid suspicious emails with the subject line “Assets undergoing upgrade” from the ID: noreply@trezor.io. They also stated that users should not click on any links or provide any information within the emails. Additionally, they requested users to delete those emails immediately if they received them. Moreover, the false email from noreply@trezor instructed Trezor users to either upgrade their network or risk losing their funds. Although to upgrade that network, they also provided a malicious link in the emails. This malicious link led to a new webpage where these third-party email providers requested users to enter their seed code (an important code to open a wallet without any verification).
Trezor’s post on X also requested their users to not enter any seed phrase anywhere. Those who clicked on the malicious link and sent their seed phrase now need to transfer their funds to a new wallet immediately.
Recently, MailerLite, an email marketing software company, reported a cybersecurity incident on January 23. This incident resulted in phishing emails using well-known domains like WalletConnect and Token Terminal. These attacks caused losses of over $3.3 million through phishing. It’s uncertain if Trezor uses the same email domain provider. As of now, there is no report from Trezor where users have reported any asset loss or fund loss from their wallet.

Some think that the recent attack on the Trezor wallet may be connected to the security breach in Trezor’s support portal on January 17, 2024, which caused an exposure of over 60,000 contact details. However, Trezor’s recent post also stated that,&nbsp;
“No other data were compromised. We immediately restricted access to all unauthorized actors and are now contacting all affected users.”
Moreover, in February 2023, Trezor officials warned users about the phishing attack that aimed to steal investors’ funds with the same technique of entering a wallet recovery seed phrase on a fake Trezor website. However, in the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency industry, users need to take care of such things, and before doing anything, make sure to contact support officials regarding any issues they experience.
