Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has officially ended his presidential campaign in the United States with a pledge to support former president and billionaire Donald Trump.&nbsp; 
The Republican candidate for the 2024 presidency stated that he couldn’t continue with a campaign lacking a clear path to victory. 
<h2 id="span-style-font-weight-400-desantis-withdraws-span">DeSantis Withdraws</h2> 
DeSantis has been quite vocal against central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), stating that he couldn’t go on with a campaign that didn’t give him any clear direction to victory. 
“I can’t ask our supporters to volunteer their time and donate their resources. Accordingly, I am today suspending my campaign,” he said.

On January 21, he <a href="https://twitter.com/RonDeSantis/status/1749159384112845285">shared</a> the news of his withdrawal in a 4-minute announcement on X (formerly Twitter). DeSantis confirmed his support for former United States President Donald Trump.&nbsp; 
“I will not stop now. It’s clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance.” 
<h2 id="span-style-font-weight-400-a-short-journey-for-desantis-span">A Short Journey for DeSantis</h2> 
DeSantis first launched his presidential bid in July 2023. In one of his first public appearances as a candidate, <a href="https://thecoinrise.com/florida-ranks-highest-as-u-s-most-crypto-ready-state/">the Florida governor</a> pledged to outlaw any potential plans for a digital dollar if elected.&nbsp; 
“If I am the president, on day one, we will nix central bank digital currency. Done. Dead. Not happening in this country,” he said at the event in Iowa.&nbsp; 
After the campaign, he came in second on January 15, trailing Donald Trump by 21% points, in the Iowa primary for the Republican Party nomination. 
<h3 id="span-style-font-weight-400-trump-is-also-a-vocal-critic-of-cbdcs-span">Trump is also a Vocal Critic of CBDCs</h3> 
As recently covered, Trump has also <a href="https://thecoinrise.com/donald-trump-to-never-allow-a-cbdc-in-the-us/">voiced his concerns against CBDCs</a> and noted that he would “never allow” the creation of a digital dollar in the United States, adding: 
“This [CBDC] would be a dangerous threat to freedom, and I will stop it from coming to America,” Donald Trump said. 
The billionaire businessman’s promise <a href="https://thecoinrise.com/rep-tom-emmer-aligns-with-donald-trump-cbdc-agenda/">received huge applause</a> from the New Hampshire crowd a few days ago.
