The first lease agreement was signed to pay monthly rent in Bitcoin (BTC) after Argentine President Javier Malay ordered the expansion of alternative payment methods. CoinTelegraph reported on the 15th (local time) that a lease contract using BTC was signed in Rosario, Argentina&#39;s third-largest city. In Argentina, real estate has been sold with BTC in the past, but this is the first time that BTC is paid for rent. According to the contract, the tenant will remit $100 (about 133,030 won) of BTC to the landlord&#39;s wallet every month through the local virtual asset platform PiWind. Both landlords and tenants are known to be familiar with the use of virtual assets. This was made possible by an executive order that took effect last month. Last month, President Malay ordered the expansion of alternative payment methods to cope with inflation. Since then, the Argentine government has enacted the &#34;Argentina Economic Reconstruction Act,&#34; allowing debtors to choose a payment method other than the Argentine legal currency. Foreign Minister Diana Mondino explained that virtual assets other than BTC can also be a means of payment in rental contracts. Meanwhile, the Argentine government also eased the tax burden on virtual assets for a while. Taxpayers who report by the end of March will pay 5% of their virtual assets in taxes. Taxes of 10% will be levied after April and 15% from July to the end of September.
