<p>Samsung, a pioneer in the foldable smartphone segment, is starting the year with the highly anticipated Galaxy S24 series. Set to launch on January 17, this series includes the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, these smartphones will introduce Galaxy AI, combining on-device and cloud-based AI experiences.</p>
<p>While the design of the Galaxy S24 series is expected to remain largely similar to its predecessors, it will feature new color options. Leaked specifications suggest improved battery capacities for the S24 and S24 Plus at 4,000 mAh and 4,900 mAh, respectively. Moreover, these premium models boast faster charging speeds, from 0 to 65% in just 30 minutes. Pricing is expected to remain similar to the previous year, except for a potential increase for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which may retail around $1,299 for the base variant.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="oneplus-12-is-launching-on-january-23">OnePlus 12 is launching on January 23</h2>
<p>OnePlus is not far behind, with the launch of its next flagship, the OnePlus 12, scheduled for January 23. This smartphone, already released in China, retains the distinctive circular camera module design seen in its predecessor, the OnePlus 11. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the OnePlus 12 offers upgraded RAM and storage options, with the base model now starting at 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.</p>
<p>In terms of battery, OnePlus has increased the capacity to 5,400 mAh, up from 5,000 mAh in the OnePlus 11. Wired charging has been boosted to an impressive 100W, and the device also supports 50W wireless charging. Notably, wireless charging, missing from the OnePlus 11, makes a return in the OnePlus 12. The camera setup includes a 50MP primary camera, a 48MP ultrawide camera, and a 64MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Additionally, OnePlus is launching the more affordable OnePlus 12R alongside the OnePlus 12, making its debut in the U.S. This variant is expected to start at $499, while the OnePlus 12 is priced at $799.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="google-pixel-8a-is-expected-in-may-or-june">Google Pixel 8a is expected in May or June</h2>
<p>Google enthusiasts can look forward to the mid-range Pixel 8a, which is expected to debut in May or June, following Google’s usual launch schedule. Building on the success of the Pixel-A series, the Pixel 8a is likely to feature the Tensor G3 chipset, providing enhanced image processing capabilities. The smartphone’s design resembles the Pixel 8, albeit with a slightly bulkier appearance and rounded corners. Key features such as the 90Hz display and wireless charging are expected to be retained.</p>
<p>With Android 14 pre-installed, the Pixel 8a will also benefit from Google’s seven-year Pixel software update promise. While pricing information is not yet available, assuming a price tag similar to the Pixel 7a, around $499, is reasonable.</p>

<p>While details about the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are sparse, these foldable smartphones are anticipated to follow Samsung’s typical release schedule, likely launching later in 2024. Leaks suggest that both models will feature larger cover displays, addressing some of the usability issues of their predecessors.</p>
<p>For instance, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is rumored to come with a larger 3.9-inch cover screen, significantly improving its practicality. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will feature a cover screen with a different aspect ratio, making typing easier and enhancing usability. Both foldables are expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips, enabling on-device generative AI capabilities through Samsung’s Galaxy AI.</p>
