The root cause was inconsistencies between the wallet’s implementation and the corresponding proxy. It created a vulnerability that allowed malicious activities to occur. The hack incident happened in late <a href="https://news.todayq.com/these-top-tokens-unlock-in-december-will-altcoin-prices-decline/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">December</a> as a result of an error in the wallet implementation on Polygon. This directly impacted user balances within the Telcoin mobile app. However, the glitch was traced back to a malfunction in the interaction between Telcoin’s digital wallet and a proxy contract. This technical hiccup allowed for the withdrawal of assets due to the proxy incorrectly executing certain storage functions. How did the resolution affect their user base? 
The exploit did not compromise any admin keys, ensuring the broader Telcoin ecosystem remained safe from any adverse effects. Paul Neuner explained, “Telcoin preemptively restored funds from the company’s treasury while we worked with leading blockchain security experts and law enforcement to freeze and recover stolen funds.”
The quick resolution initiative resulted in a significant uptick in user confidence and activity following the restoration. Deposits surged, with a staggering 400% increase on the first day since services were reinstated compared to the previous month. The ratio of deposits to withdrawals demonstrated a bullish sentiment, with .60 being deposited for every withdrawal.
