When thinking of kindness, most people will conjure up pictures of Bambi, butterflies, and a slice of hot apple pie served on Thanksgiving.But kindness is much, much more than that.<blockquote>You see, kindness is an innate characteristic of the soul — the real you that animates this physical form.</blockquote>Kindness is akin to the sweetness of sugar. You cannot separate it from the actual product of sugar, lest it will stop being sugar. Kindness is as natural as that to each and every one of us, but something happened as life unfolded, and we forgot this essential truth.As children, we saw the world without filters — a child was a child, an adult was an adult, and an animal was another friend we could play with. There were no preconceived ideas or filters in place to blur this perspective. We acted with a child-like innocence, where everything was connected, interdependent, and valued — even the most insignificant Lego piece.However, as our brains developed and we became exposed to the projections of the adults around us, a set of judgment filters took root in our consciousness, and we started to discriminate based on those paradigms.Our pure childhood innocence was quickly replaced by conditioning and the “adulterated” perspectives that were pushed upon us. Our “personalities” took on traits associated with those influences. Slowly but surely, layer by layer, the spiritual purity that shone through our child&#39;s eyes became covered more and more like dust settling on a mirror or a droplet of water catching dirt as it falls to earth.Finally, as we become wiser and more discerning, we stop to take account and realize how we have been manipulated — how our consciousness has become perverted. We do what we can to cleanse away the rot in the form of false ego, bad habits, wrong thinking, and mundane attachments.Those of us fortunate enough to awaken go through a cleansing stage and try to reset our lives. In some cases, it works like a charm, and we set the course for new beginnings, a “new me,” and thrive. But in many cases, we are unable to break free of the bonds of the “demons” that control our lives, and we suffer perpetually.However, all this while, the ability to be kind never leaves us. It is always there, sometimes lurking in the shadows and sometimes out in front, leading the way, urging us on to a better future. And that is because kindness is our natural state of being. We cannot separate it from our true self, as much as you cannot separate the sunlight from the sun globe. They are inseparable, even when clouds cover the sun. Although the truth is, the clouds never cover the sun, but cover our eyes, instead.<h2 id="header-0">Understanding the truth is all about perspective.</h2>If kindness is so natural to each of us, why is the world so overrun with psychopathic lunatics hell-bent on destroying the planet and anyone in their way?Well, the fact is, the world has always had lunatics; it is nothing new. Social media and the speed of communications have just enabled us to see it more clearly. The world has always had corrupt leaders, cheaters, charlatans, demons, etc., but now it is much harder for them to hide.You may ask, “What can I do to help?”It all starts with changing your perspective.If we try to rekindle that childhood innocence and purity and start to see the world again with a sense of hopefulness, love, and respect, a tangible healing effect can be initiated. A “ripple of change,” if you will. That ripple, while small, can and will lead to significant changes in the world. The more of us that align with the perspective that kindness is the way forward, the greater this ripple becomes, just like if you were to continually throw a rock into a pond at the exact same point. The ripples turn to waves, eventually creating a “Tsunami-affect” of social change.At Kindly, our entire purpose is to extract this natural quality of kindness from the hearts of everyone that participates in our ecosystem and amplify it for positive and measurable change.
