ArenaX Labs has announced a $6 million funding round led by Framework Ventures, with participation from SevenX Ventures, FunPlus / Xterio, and Moore Strategic Ventures.
The AI gaming studio wants to educate people about developing AI models through gaming. The company plans to use the fresh capital to accelerate the development of AI Arena, a “first-of-its-kind” game where human players collect AI-powered characters and train them in fighting strategies.

Commenting on the fundraising, ArenaX Labs CEO Brandon Da Silva said: “AI Arena marks a major advance in the fusion between technology and education: an innovative way for people without advanced technical expertise to learn about AI – and to have fun doing so.”
The player-v-player battle game has been likened to Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros, with the only exception being that players train their AI characters to fight against each other, autonomously.
According to the announcement, the characters’ competence is determined by the skillset of the creator, such that, the more skilful the creator, the better the AI character is during battles.
AI Arena requires no coding skills and will be offered free to players. A <a href="https://www.nftgators.com/what-is-a-blockchain-game/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Web3 version of the game</a> will be made available to those who wish to compete for rewards.
Commenting on his company’s leading role in the fundraising, Framework Ventures co-founder Michael Anderson <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/arenax-labs-raises-6-million-to-fund-ai-powered-games-in-round-led-by-framework-ventures-302028382.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">said</a>: “We’re doubling down on the ArenaX team because we think they have one of the most ingenious approaches to consumer AI.”
Framework also participated in ArenaX Labs’ <a href="https://www.coindesk.com/business/2021/10/27/paradigm-leads-5m-seed-round-for-play-to-earn-game-ai-arena/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">$5 million seed</a> round led by Paradigm in October 2021.
“Most consumers still view AI as a novelty they may engage with on a surface level. The ArenaX team is flipping this narrative by creating products that encourage normal people to begin learning to train AI through the language of play,” Anderson added.
