In yet another official recognition for crypto businesses outside of the United States, the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) had included Ripple, the company supporting top cryptocurrency XRP, in its list of registered Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs).

<h2 id="ripple-ireland-gets-recognition">Ripple Ireland Gets Recognition</h2> 
According to a statement from the company, the central bank has added Ripple Markets Ireland Limited, its Irish subsidiary, among the existing VASPs. With this, Ripple Markets would be able to provide certain digital asset services within Ireland as a registered VASP. The company <a rel="nofollow" href="https://ripple.com/ripple-press/ripple-added-to-central-bank-of-irelands-virtual-asset-service-providers-register" target="_blank">said</a> further,

 “Following the registration, Ripple will seek to provide services to clients across the European Economic Area once the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCA) comes into force at the end of 2024.”

The MiCA legislation in the European Union paves way for the regulation of virtual asset providers operating in the region. <h2 id="expansion-outside-us">Expansion Outside US</h2> 
Contrary to popular perception, Ripple had been actively expanding in various jurisdictions outside the US in what was a major strategy shift following the December 2020 lawsuit filed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) alleging violation of the registration provisions of the federal securities laws. Also, the company is <a href="https://coingape.com/ripple-applies-for-licenses-in-uk-and-ireland-after-xrp-win-sec/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">seeking registration</a> as a crypto asset firm with the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Eric van Miltenburg, a senior Ripple executive, said,

Earlier in June 2023, the company <a href="https://coingape.com/ripple-gets-major-payments-institution-license-in-singapore-xrp-price/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">obtained</a> the Major Payments Institution License application from Singapore’s central bank, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). Also, the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) has recently approved the use of XRP tokens within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) ecosystem. Besides, the company said it obtained a majority of its 35 money transmitter licences (MTLs) in the US in 2023.
