<p>The crypto prices today have continued their downward trend, suggesting investors are taking a break following a recent market bull run. Meanwhile, the previous month and the December start has been a boon for the <a href="https://coingape.com/glossary/cryptocurrency/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cryptocurrency</a> market, as the traders have shifted their focus towards the risk-bet assets.</p> 
<p>However, the ongoing week has been challenging for the crypto prices, as the market participants seem to be taking a break amid a volatile scenario in the market. In addition, key economic data like the U.S. <a href="https://coingape.com/glossary/consumer-price-index-cpi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Consumer Price Index (CPI)</a> and Producer Price Index (PPI) data are scheduled for release this week. According to pundits, investors await the key inflation data, as it could shed light on the potential future stance of the Federal Reserve’s rate hike plans.</p> 
<p>Meanwhile, looking at the major crypto prices, the <a href="https://coingape.com/price/bitcoin/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bitcoin price</a> slipped 1.12% as of writing to trade at $41,632.34 on Tuesday. Meanwhile, its trading volume over the last 24 hours rose 58.15% to $34.13 billion. However, over the last 30 days, the BTC price has added nearly 13% through December 12.</p> 
<p>Simultaneously, another leading crypto in the digital asset space, the <a href="https://coingape.com/price/ethereum/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ethereum price</a> also noted a slump of 0.6% to $2,229.66 during writing, with its trading volume rising 28.41% to $14.62 billion. In contrast, the <a href="https://coingape.com/price/bnb/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BNB price</a> defied the market trend and has added 8.63% from yesterday to trade at $253.05, while its trading volume rose 82% to $1.44 billion.</p> 
<p>Meanwhile, the <a href="https://coingape.com/price/xrp/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">XRP price</a> was down 0.82% to $0.623, and its trading volume soared 3.09% to $1.75 billion. In addition, the <a href="https://coingape.com/price/shiba-inu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Shiba Inu price</a> decreased by 2.66% to $0.000009634 during writing, and its market volume from yesterday declined 24.4% to $273.06 million.</p> 
<p>Meanwhile, the <a href="https://coingape.com/crypto-market-selloff-heres-why-btc-eth-xrp-prices-fell-sharply-today/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recent selloff in the digital asset space</a>, as witnessed by the slump in major crypto prices, has dragged down the overall market’s performance. As of writing, the global crypto market cap fell 0.23% to $1.57 trillion, while the total crypto market volume soared 30.19% to $82.72 billion. Notably, the fear and greed index also inched down to 74 from last week’s reading of 80, suggesting a greed sentiment in the market.</p>
