The European Union has <a href="https://www.reuters.com/technology/stalled-eu-ai-act-talks-set-resume-2023-12-08/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">become</a> the first major world power to adopt phenomenal rules to regulate Artificial Intelligence (AI). Following 36 hours of “marathon talks,” the Council Presidency and the European Parliament have <a href="https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/press/press-releases/2023/12/09/artificial-intelligence-act-council-and-parliament-strike-a-deal-on-the-first-worldwide-rules-for-ai/#:~:text=The%20draft%20regulation%20aims%20to,huge%20milestone%20towards%20the%20future!" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">agreed</a> on a provisional deal that intends to scrutinize AI models, including ChatGPT. 
The EU’s <a href="https://coinedition.com/eu-moves-closer-to-regulating-ai-tools-like-chatgpt-and-bard/">AI regulation</a> focuses on implementing comprehensive norms and guidance on artificial intelligence technology that boasts the capability of transforming everyday life. The proposal also aims to introduce regulation in the government’s use of AI in biometric surveillance, constraining the authority to use only real-time biometric surveillance in public spaces for cases involving serious crimes.&nbsp;&nbsp;
