Not all games on the metaverse game Roblox are fun. Some of them are just trying to survive there with no entertainment at all. British news media The Guardian explored some of the worst games developed by corporations to advertise themselves, and possibly monetize their services on the platform too.

McCain Farms of the Future shows how potato chips are made. McCain Food entered the metaverse platform in October last year. Their goal was to raise awareness regarding challenges faced by regenerative farming. Regen Fries, one of the company’s products, remains the focus of the game.

A hair grooming game dubbed L’Oréal Paris Hair Colour came next in the queue. The player is required to accept a challenge where the individual is required to choose hair color for three virtual avatars posing as customers. The game is a part of <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2023/12/04/litecoin-price-prediction-can-ltc-sustain-the-recent-gains/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Livetopia</a>, metaverse inside the metaverse game. McCain Farms of the Future is also part of this growing virtual world.
“It plays more like a branded interlude, a quick five-minute job while you’re wandering around looking for something less boring to do instead”, the article writes. The company is among the leading beauty brands globally. It generated $40 Billion in revenue last year.
Regarding Samsung Space Tycoon, the author describes, “There are plenty of little sub-games to relieve you of the slightly repetitive gameplay of: mine this, make that, sell this, make that. There’s no arguing the whole thing is Samsunged to the max, but it’s easily the best of the lot so far. So have an extra Samsung-branded star for that.”
Another game called Victoria’s Secret Happy Nation is a part of a different metaverse in Roblox dubbed BayView. However, the game reportedly is not playable anymore. According to the author, “I go in search of it, but after an hour of fruitless running about, turns out that Happy Nation has now left the BayView metaverse, so neither you, nor I, can actually play it any more.”
Lastly, the article discusses an unofficial Ryanair game an individual named Sebastian Codling developed on Roblox when he was just 11 years old. A user needs to pay Robux, the in-game currency of Roblox, to enter the game. He explained to The New York Times, a US daily newspaper, that he has employed full-time staff to manage over 80K members.
Data shows that Roblox holds an active user base of over 200 Million users. This makes it among the biggest metaverse games given the global metaverse user base has reached 400 Million users.
